The 2022 Atlantic hurricane season saw an average number of storms but a devastating wake of destruction. Hurricane Ian will go down in history as one of the costliest weather events on record, with more than $100 million in damages and over 160 fatalities.
The season saw a slightly above average number of hurricanes, only two major hurricanes – but those two hurricanes caused massive damage.
Hurricane Fiona caused a few billion dollars of damage in Puerto Rico. Hurricane Ian made history, and not in a good way with the strength and force of the Category 5 storm.
