On June 20th, 2023 the Governor of Florida Ron Desantis signed House Bill 1383 (HB 1383) into law.

This bill requires the Construction Industry Licensing Board to establish certified specialty contractor categories for voluntary licensure. The bill clarifies that local governments cannot require a contractor to obtain a license issued by the state or local governemtn for a scope of work which does not align with specialty contractors.
