The IHPA is teaming up with MODS and FIU in Ft. Lauderdale May 20th, 2017 for the Eye of the Storm: Hurricane Science Mitigation and Preparedness event. The event will take place at the Museum of Discovery and Science from 10AM to 5PM.
FIU and MODS are hosting the event to help prepare the public for the upcoming Hurricane Season which begins June 1st, 2017.
The event is open to all ages and will be both fun and informative in nature. There will be interactive demonstrations like tropical weather briefings and hurricane hunters. There will be live theater shows including performances from “Professor Tinkermeister”, “Owlie Skywarm” and “How the Weather Works”. FIU’s Wall of Wind Researchers will be giving presentations as will other top hurricane experts. The event will inform citizens how to protect themselves and their pets in the event of a storm.
